Discovering Maramures
To Maramureș
After breakfast we set off to discover the cultural richness of Maramures: the Merry Cemetery of Sapanta - unique in the world for its painted and sculpted crosses, wooden sculpted gates along the Iza Valley, the Village Museum in Sighet and the Barsana Orthodox Monastery, a well-known pilgrimage site in Maramures. Return to the village for dinner accompanied by traditional music – the renowned "ceterasi" of Maramures. Dinner and accommodation in a guest house at the same location as the previous night.

Route to Bukovina
After breakfast we leave Maramures to join another region, that of Bucovine. A stop is planned on the way to visit the village of Ieud and its wooden church in the Valley, which was built in 1718. There you will find a beautiful collection of glass icons from Maramures. Then we take the road that climbs to the Prislop Pass (over 1400m altitude) and you will be amazed by the landscape on both sides: the peaks of the Eastern Carpathians and the wide pastures scattered with seasonal shepherds' huts; it's the right time to say goodbye to Maramures! Once we arrive in Bucovine, the village of Ciocanesti will certainly attract your attention with its houses that have exterior walls decorated with colorful stucco featuring geometric or floral motifs from traditional embroidery. In the afternoon we visit a craftsman who decorates Easter eggs and you will discover the egg decoration technique as well as a collection of decorated eggs. And to not prolong the suspense too much you will see a first monastery, that of Moldovita. Here, in the monastery museum, you will find the Golden Apple, a prize awarded by the association of tourism journalists.
Dinner and accommodation in a guest house.

From Bucovina to the Land of the Siculs
This day will begin with a visit to the most famous monastery in Bucovina, that of Voronet - nicknamed the Sistine Chapel of the East, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1993. The rest of the day will be rather "nature" as we take the road to the Land of Szeklers passing through the Bicaz Gorges, whose vertical limestone walls are impressive. Before arriving at our destination, a stop at Red Lake (Lacul Rosu in Romanian) will be a pleasant surprise as it is one of the most famous natural sites in Roumanie.
Dinner and accommodation in a guesthouse.

Saxon towns and villages

Route to Cluj
Visit of the medieval city of Sighisoara in the morning, an imposing fortress, still inhabited, placed on a hill that overlooks the valley. Departure to Cluj. Stop at Biertan (UNESCO) to visit one of the largest Saxon fortresses in Transylvania. The fortress is protected by several rows of ramparts. The treasury chamber in the church is very interesting, thanks to its door which has a multi-point locking system. Stop at Turda to visit the salt mine, considered one of the most beautiful underground places in the world. The main attraction of the place is the underground lake on which you can navigate using small boats to enjoy the incredible landscape illuminated by lamps.
